Under Our Wings/Quilt of Valor 03/12/2011
Today was a fantastic day!! Six coaches + six rookies = six completed quilt tops for the "Quilts of Valor". As one rookie said "this is such a small sacrifice compared to what the recipient of this quilt has sacrificed for all of us". Add Comment "Under My Wings" 03/11/2011
Tomorrow I am going to be a coach for "Under My Wings". Marianne Fons has spearheaded this new program under the "Quilts of Valor" . This consist of a coach (an experienced quilter) taking a new quilter under their wings to help them make their first quilt which they will give to an injured service person. This is a fabulous program that several fabric suppliers and quilt shops are now involved in. Please feel free to contact me for more information on this fantastic opportunity!! This week is going by too quickly!! I always feel the days zipping by when I am in the mist of preparing all of the pieces and parts for taping the next 13 episodes of Love of Quilting. Marianne Fons and I reviewed 4 of the 13 episodes today for completeness. YEAH!!! We have 13 wonderful episodes planned that you will not want to miss! Post Title. Class Project 03/05/2011
I was so excited that a lady from one of my classes brought her finished project into the store to show me!! Connie did a fantastic job with her curved seams on this wall hanging!!! Connie has only been quilting for about 1 year. I told all of the ladies in class on February 12, 2011 that I wanted to see their finished projects. Connie was the first to show off her finsihed project. Thanks for making my day Connie!! First Post! 02/21/2011
This is the first blog entry, and it really wasn't authored by me, because well, I'm simply just not ready to start blogging. This is really my husband. I hope soon that Cindy will start blogging, because she's the one who really knows quilting. I know enough about quilting to at least set the tension on a sewing machine, but that's about the extent of it. Well, I know a little more, like batik is not pronounced "batick", it's pronounced "bahteek". Anyway, Cindy's the expert so lets hope she gets her quilters blog on soon! | Cindy HathawayDespite some initial reservations, I have become an avid quilter. My Mom, Faye, got me started quilting over 25 years ago by giving me some quilting essentials for Christmas. After several years of being an accountant I decided to trade my shreds for threads! I now have a dream job as a sewing specialist and TV Floor Director for Fons & Porter/ Love of Quilting in Winterset, IA. Although I continue to learn, I enjoy giving quilting classes to share my enthusiasm and knowledge of quilting. I love seeing others enjoy quilting as much as I do.
